Raquel is still somewhat new to CrossFit Zachary but has hit the ground running. Literally. She’s crushing each day and is determined to meet every challenge of every day with everything she has to give! Here’s what she has to say:
“What first brought me to CFZ was that I was tired… tired of feeling sluggish and worn down from being so out of shape.
My first impression of CF was when I met with Cheri. I won’t lie- I was intimidated. She looks and is amazing. By the end of that first foundations class, I knew I had found my place.
My first bright spot was last week when I did sit ups. When I first started at the end of June, I couldn’t do a single one. That day I did 100+.
What I’m working on now… everything really. I feel like every day is a challenge and that’s why I love it but If I had to say one thing, it would be squats… or running.
My favorite CFZ memory so far is my first partner WOD. It was with Laura Kate, and we all know she is a beast! I was determined to do my half and not put mine on her to do… and I did it!
I picked CrossFit Zachary over all the other options because I wanted variety and I saw the results my son had from the kids class. I can’t stand ellipticals or treadmills and I knew CrossFit would keep it mixed up. I like to laugh and make others laugh and I wanted that camaraderie.
I have been blown away by all of the genuinely good people that work out here. They want me to get better and are always quick to help when I look confused (which is always).
I have a long way to go, but I am feeling healthier and stronger than I have in my whole life.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Ricky McDavid for 11 years. We have two sons: Trae (10) and Bo (2.5).”
Congratulations Raquel on all your success and thanks for being an example to all of us on what hard work and determination looks like. Keep doing what you’re doing!
